Chandigarh contingent announced for National Games : The Tribune India

Chandigarh, September 25

The Chandigarh Olympic Association (COA) has reported the city’s contingent for the National Games to be held in Gujarat.

The local contingent was made up of 165 athletes and 53 officials from 25 sports. It was reported by SS Gill, Sports Secretary, along with Sanyam Garg, Sports Director; Dr Sunil Rayat, co-director, Sports; and others.

The contingent is led by Chief of Mission Sudershan Kumar and Rayat. Parveen Thakur has been appointed Deputy Head of Mission.

Amrinder Singh Bazaz, chairman of the Chandigarh Olympic Association, said the sports department had promised to give a grant to the association after the contingent returned. He also claimed to have found two sponsors to provide kits to the contingent, while train tickets were booked by the respective units and the amount would be reimbursed by the department later.

NS Thakur, General Secretary; Chandrmukhi Sharma, General Secretary of the Indian Basketball Federation; COA member Ravinder Talwar and the presidents, secretaries and managers of the various participating units also attended the ceremony.
