Date, place chosen for the election of the Nigerian Basketball Federation


A place and date have now been agreed for the election to the Board of Directors of the Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF).

The NBBF Congress ratified Benin on Saturday to host its elective Congress while also approving on Saturday October 30 the elections to the Executive Bureau of the federation.

“During its extraordinary congress held on Saturday, October 9 in Abuja, the congress ratified Benin as the host city while adopting the proposed electoral committee which will be chaired by Dr Lanre Glover”, we read on Saturday in a statement from the NBBF .

Glover, according to the statement, will be assisted by Mohammed Sani Fema with Femi Olugbile, Hauwa Kulu-Akinyemi as members while Emmanuel Okibe will act as secretary of the committee.

In the presence of the 36 states and the basketball presidents and secretaries of the Federal Capital Territory, Congress also approved the appointment of Ms. Ize Matebese as chair of the 2021 NBBF Election Appeal Committee alongside General David Lubo. (rtd.) (member) and Emmanuel Zira as secretary. .

At the congress chaired by the interim president of the Nigerian Basketball Federation, Engr. Musa Kida, all stakeholders were invited to submit comments for addition or amendment to the constitution for the process in accordance with Article 38 of the Constitution approved by the NBBF.

This was unanimously agreed to as part of the ongoing process to amend constitutions, which has been described as an ongoing exercise as enshrined in the constitution.

Was present on Honorable Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary Ismaila Abubakar who was also present in a personal capacity.

Ishaku Tikon represented the President of the Nigerian Olympic Committee, Habu Gumel, Simon Ebhojiaye, Acting Director (FEAD) was also on the pitch alongside Florence Adeyanju, member of the Goalkeepers Committee, NBBF.
