“As you know, under Article 9.7 of the FIBA ​​General Statutes, Member National Federations (NMFs) must manage their affairs independently without the influence of third parties and ensure that their officers are elected or appointed through a democratic process, ”the letter read. in part.

FIBA has also stated that it will not recognize any competitions or results arising from any event not controlled by the NBBF.

“In addition, in accordance with our letter of November 2, 2021 to the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, FIBA ​​expects the NBBF to celebrate its Electoral Congress no later than November 30, 2021.”

“The current situation will be brought to the attention of the FIBA ​​Central Bureau at its next meeting on November 18, 2021 in order to determine any further way forward in accordance with the General Statutes and FIBA ​​Internal Regulations”, a- he added in the letter.
