1:22 p.m. PT – Law enforcement officials in Alabama say TMZ Sports … Foster died on December 6 while in custody. They added that an investigation was underway and that “nothing else is available” at the moment.
Former NFL defensive lineman Glenn foster – who recorded three sacks for the New Orleans Saints in 2013 – is said to have died … just two days after his arrest in Alabama.
A Pickens County medical examiner official confirmed the Dec. 6 death, according to NOLA.com, although the spokesperson did not disclose the circumstances surrounding the death, saying an investigation is currently underway.
Prison records show Foster was arrested and jailed on December 4 for reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and attempted escape. Records show he was then reassigned on December 5 on charges of common assault and robbery.
It is not known if Foster was still in custody at the time of his death – we have contacted the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office for comment, but he said the Alabama State Office of Investigation managed the surveys.
Multiple attempts to reach Alabama SBI spokespersons have failed.
Foster – who played for the Univ. of Illinois – signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2013 and played two seasons for the team, registering 8 tackles in 17 games.
He retired from the league in 2016.
Former Foster teammate with the Saints, current New Orleans star Terron Armstead, commented on the news on Tuesday – saying on his Twitter page: “I really can’t find the words to express it correctly. Rest in peace Glenn Foster, you will be missed my brother!”
