How the Warriors could trade for raptor star Pascal Siakam

The Golden State Warriors have been one of the most dominant teams in the NBA so far in the 2021-22 season. They are 18-3, tied for first place in the Western Conference with the Phoenix Suns.

The scariest part about the Warriors is that they’re probably going to be better in a few weeks. Klay Thompson is set to return to the field after missing more than two years of action with an ACL tear suffered in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals and a ruptured Achilles in November 2020. James Wiseman returns also from a knee surgery he underwent in April.

Golden State is going to be a much tougher team to face with Thompson and Wiseman in the fold. Now imagine if the Warriors were able to pull off the successful deal they were looking to make throughout the offseason?

Stephen Curry is playing at MVP level again while Draymond Green is more locked in than ever in his quest to prove he is still the best defensive player in the NBA. Adding another All-Star to the mix at Golden State would border on injustice, but what if they succeed?

The Warriors were linked with many big names throughout the offseason. Ben Simmons, Bradley Beal and Pascal Siakam were a few. What might a deal look like for Siakam? It would change the landscape for both franchises.

Landing a player of Siakam’s caliber could push the Warriors to be the favorites for the NBA title. He’s coming off an offseason procedure, but when he’s healthy he can make a difference both ways with versatility on both sides of the pitch.

Siakam has proven he can be a go-scorer, but he’s never been surrounded by players with the gravity of Curry and Thompson. He would be able to operate with a lot of space in midfield or space up to the 3 point line for open shots.

Along with Siakam, the Warriors would also get some frontline help in the form of Chris Boucher. Boucher hasn’t found that much playing time this season with the Toronto Raptors, but he has that Unicorn skill set that teams love. He’s a powerful rim protector defensively, while he can space the ground and shoot 3 points offensively.

The package to acquire them would not be cheap. Andrew Wiggins is involved to help match wages. It would be a bigger hit than people realize as he has established himself in the Bay Area, increasingly showing that two-way ability that made him the No.1 pick in 2014.

Wiseman is also said to be on his way to Toronto. If he’s not ready to deliver consistent production with spinning minutes for a team competing to win a championship, the Warriors’ best plan might be to leave him. Siakam and Boucher are both better equipped to help a team in a win-now mode.

Giving up first round picks is never an easy thing to do, but if the The Golden State Warriors had to win another championship with the core of Curry, Thompson and Green, it would be worth it. Golden State also had an additional selection in the first round in the 2021 NBA Draft, so they can afford not to add another youngster to the mix in the 2022 NBA Draft.
