Morocco to sign sports agreement with Zionist regime

TEHRAN (IQNA) – In order to further strengthen ties with the Zionist regime, Morocco plans to sign an agreement to strengthen sports cooperation.

The deal was for basketball and is expected to be signed in March, according to Anadolu Agency.

The Royal Moroccan Basketball Federation said in a statement on Saturday that it had reached a historic cooperation agreement with the Israeli basketball federation. The agreement includes cooperation in the educational, sporting, social and medical fields.

Morocco and the Israeli regime announced at the end of 2020 that they would resume diplomatic relations after a hiatus since 2022.

Meanwhile, experts believe Morocco has had deep ties to the occupation throughout history and those ties resurfaced with former US President Donald Trump’s plan to normalize ties between states. Arabs and the Israeli regime, the so-called Abraham Accords.

Rabat resumed diplomatic relations with the occupation regime in August after Zionist Foreign Minister Yair Lapid visited the country.

The Palestinian people and groups have strongly condemned the normalization of ties between Arab countries and the occupiers, describing it as a stab in the back.
