NBBF elections: Ugboaja demystifies presidential ambition

Former Nigerian basketball and NBA star Ejike Ugboaja has debunked suggestions that he wants to run for president of the Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF).

Ugboaja, a disbanded NBBF board member headed by engineer Ahmadu Musa Kida who spoke to reporters in Abuja on Tuesday, urged Nigerians to ignore those linking him to the presidency of the NBBF, claiming that its interest at the moment is focused on the development of young Nigerian basketball players.

“I never thought of running for president of the FBNB in the next election. What I am doing now is focusing on the development of young Nigerian basketball players, so when the time comes to contest the NBBF elections, I will, ”Ugboaja said.

Recall that the NBFF board headed by Musa Kida was accused by some members of the board of managing the affairs of the federation alone and with his friends who were not members of the board, a situation which they believe has worked against their board of directors.

Kida was reportedly accused of financial embezzlement by members of his board of directors, including money allegedly released by the federal government for the settlement of D’Tigress debts over four years that were not returned to players from appropriate way.

The board was also accused of being surrounded by secrecy, a situation that board members like Ejike Ugboaja and others were almost throwing in the towel if not for stakeholder intervention. and for the love of games.
